Data Mining is the process of extracting patterns from data. Data Mining is seen as increasingly important tool by modern business to transform data into an informational advantage. The Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) field of data mining is concerned with the development and enhancement of methods, algorithm and techniques which can make sense and evaluate of the available and required data. Knowledge Discovery in Database is useful in finding and searching different trends, patterns and anomalies in the databases which is useful to make accurate, effective and meaningful decisions for the future. A primary reason for using data mining is to assist in the analysis of collections of observations of behavior. This research paper gives an overview about data mining and its process which will provide great help to the researchers and scholars in their respective fields.
